Meet Gia.

After suffering from a ruptured brain aneurysm at 14 years-old, Gia Patel, sought out the expertise of President and CEO of Barrow, Dr. Michael T. Lawton, who successfully performed surgery on Gia, saving her life. At 16, Gia returned to Barrow not as a patient, but as an intern in Barrow's Summer High School Internship Program in Dr. Tomoki Hashimoto's laboratory at the Barrow Aneurysm and AVM Research Center where she spent 12 weeks working in the lab, gaining knowledge and receiving training that many wouldn't experience until medical school.
